The "Grand Canyon Light Show" photo was taken on the night of August 30, 2013 by Chandra Rolf Maeder at the South Rim of the "Grand Canyon", Arizona, USA. Using a 25 second exposure time, 3 lightning strikes were combined into one shot. No elements were added or removed from the photo.

The dramatic cloud formations, the archaic textures and colors of the Grand Canyon, and the balanced composition make this image a work of art of extraordinary beauty and power.

Among many worldwide publications, the image was published in January 2014 by "Time" magazine as one of the most impressive photos of 2013 double-page.

In addition, the image was awarded First Prize in the Landscape Section of the 2014 Oasis International Competition.
