The right direction

This is the right direction. Everyone knows it and is moving forward. Old and young, fast and slow. There’s no doubt about it. Perhaps a quick glance to the right or left. But certainly not in the opposite direction. Where on earth would that get you!

It is said that once, a person did the unthinkable. This person then looked everyone she encountered straight in the eye, quite brazenly. This was very uncomfortable for everyone. This person walked very slowly and had to keep stepping aside to avoid being swept away by the massive tide of people. But when this person would sometimes simply stop in their tracks, people had no choice but to step out of their way. This person's behaviour was said to be very antisocial. At some point, surely this person must have realised that she were heading in the wrong direction. All on her own! This person could surely have turned round. Everyone was convinced of that. Yet right up to the end, this person remained defiantly steadfast. Some of them had even felt the urge to look back at her. But to do that, they would have had to turn round! That would have been extremely dangerous. That’s why this person was eventually removed.

However, there are rumours that some people claim there are even more of them …
